After a step devoted to research and new mapping of the site, UNESCO together with the Vietnamese Culture Ministry invited the Foundation to participate in the above mentioned project, in order to spread in the Culture Ministry, along with the Culture Departments of Vietnamese Provinces the international standards for preservation as well as new methods for the Management of the Archaeological/Monumental sites. For that purpose Group G was chosen among the Cham monuments in My Son. The followings are the reasons for that choice:
Also in this case the technical-scientific cohordination was assigned to the Foundation under direction of Dr. Patrizia Zolese. Experts from the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture also participated in the project, along with the Hanoi Conservation Institute, and the Departments of Structural Engineering and of Hydraulic Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano.
The new researches focused on: architectural survey of monuments at My Son, re-start of archaeological researches, geophysical prospecting in some sample-areas in order to identify possible remains still buried, new digital cartography of the site, survey and study for the mitigation of the frequent floods of the site.
The researches project was carried on by staff of the Foundation in collaboration with the Archaeology Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, of Hanoi Conservation Institute (ICM), of the Departments of Structural Engineering and of Hydraulic Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano.
As part of the aforementioned project, room G of the My Son Museum was also set up by arch. Fulvia Premoli with exhibits of archaeological findings, maps, photos, drawings relating to the research carried out by the Lerici Foundation in group G from 2004 to 2013; year in which the restored group G and room G were handed over to the vietnamese authorities in the presence of the General Director of UNESCO Irina Bokova and the Ambassador of Italy Lorenzo Angeloni.
